General Information

School Routines

School begins at 8.50am for KS2, KS1 & FS and ends at 3.15pm, with lunch from
12.00 – 1.00pm for KS2 children and 12.00-1.20pm for FS and KS1.
All children have a morning break from 10.20 – 10.40am
Children are not to be on school premises until 8.30am when the gates are opened,
unless they are attending a club (e.g. judo) before school.
All children wait on the playground until 8.50am when the bell is rung.
Children are NOT allowed on the Play Equipment or the astroturf either before or
after school and NO BALL GAMES are to be played before or afters school; there
are too many people around including many very young children.
If children ride bikes or scooters to school they must push them, not ride them, once
they are on the school premises. Bikes and scooters should be stored in the racks
behind the Art Room during the school day.
Dogs are not allowed onto the school site and must be tied up away from the gates.

Absence from School

If your child is away from school parents must inform the office by 9.15am on the first
day of absence – there is an answerphone out of school hours.
In line with the Health Protection Agency guidelines, please remember that children
should not return to school until 48 hours from the last episode of diarrhea or
vomiting. We would be grateful if you could follow these guidelines to help prevent
anyone else contracting the bug/illness.

Snacks

KS2
Breaktime snacks should be healthy and consist of fruit, dried fruit, vegetables; NOT
crisps, biscuits or, in particular, NUTS.

FS & KS1
All children in the FS and KS1 receive free fruit and vegetables daily as part of the
Government scheme.

Lunches

We positively encourage healthy eating and hope that you will support us in this in
what you provide for your children.
Hot lunches are provided by Bath & North East Somerset at a cost of £2.60 per day for children in KS2. Lunches are free of charge for Reception and KS1 children.. Please pay for school meals in advance via Parent Pay.

Due to nut allergies please DO NOT PROVIDE NUTS for your child’s lunch or snack,
including peanut butter and chocolate spreads.

Contact Details

It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that the school has up to date contact
details for them should they need to be contacted at any time. It is also imperative
that parents contact the school if their child has any specific medical need.

Parking

Parking is a perennial problem. If you use a car to get to school could you please park considerately, observe the road markings and keep the driveways of the homes of local residents clear. Thank you.

School Uniform Guidelines

The school colours are Dark Green and Grey and it is requested that the children wear:

Boys
A Clutton Primary School Sweatshirt or dark green sweatshirt/jumper
White polo shirt/shirt
Grey trousers/shorts
Grey/black socks
Black/grey/brown or dark coloured sensible shoes

Girls
A Clutton Primary School Sweatshirt or dark green sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan
White polo shirt/shirt
Grey trousers/shorts/blouse/grey skirt(or a green and white gingham dress in warmer weather)
Grey or white socks or tights
Black/grey/brown or dark coloured sensible shoes or sandals

All
PE kit in a named bag consisting of:
House colours t-shirt
Plain, dark coloured shorts, trainers or plimsolls
Dark tracksuit bottoms (for those colder days!)

PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL CLOTHING IS CLEARLY LABELLED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME
The PTFA runs a second hand clothes shop. Donations of good quality clothing are
always welcome, particularly daps and football boots.

Lost Property

Inevitably some clothing is lost from time to time. Lost property is stored in clearly labelled bins in the cloakroom areas. If not claimed after two terms we dispose of the items. If all clothing is named we can reunite items with their owners very quickly!
For Health & Safety reasons the following are NOT ALLOWED:
  • jewellery, other than watches or stud earrings.
  • studs must be removed for PE
  • nail varnish or make-up
  • excessively high heeled shoes/very wide flared trousers
  • long hair must be tied back – this will lower the chance of the transference of nits! Please help us to keep instances of headlice to a minimum by keeping your child’s hair tied back. It is also important to keep it tied back for P.E.
  • children should not bring valuable toys or personal items into school unless as part of a class project.

Communication

We have an ‘Open Door’ policy whereby we hope that parents feel they can come and talk to staff if they have concerns; unless urgent or a quick message, it is better to catch teachers at the end rather than the beginning of the day to either talk with them or make an appointment.
Parents have the opportunity to attend Parents’ Evenings that are arranged in the Autumn and Spring Terms. We run information evenings from time to time, usually on learning or curriculum issues.
A comprehensive Newsletter goes out a couple of times a term. This can be emailed to you or you can have a paper copy, it is also available on our website.
Please check your children’s bags as there are often additional letters/web pages from class/year group teachers regarding plans for the term, specific events or visits.
All concerns or issues regarding your child should always go through their class teacher in the first instance; most things are resolved this way. It may be necessary to consult the Key Stage lead or the Headteacher as appropriate.
